Areas of Practice

Psychological Therapies

My clinical training is grounded in a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework with additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy and Meaning Centered Therapy. At times I work with individuals one-to-one, and at other times it is more appropriate to take a systems approach, working with couples or family systems.

Psychological therapy begins with a formal assessment session, which may also include psychometric questionnaires and follow-up liaison with your GP or other relevant healthcare provider. Following the assessment session a therapy plan will be discussed and agreed upon, and this may range from a few sessions to something more extensive depending on your clinical needs.

My primary experience is working in the areas of grief and adjustment, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, pre- or post- surgical support (including weight loss surgery), general health psychology and rehabilitation.

Professional Supervision

Professional supervision offers a forum for clinicians or other professional groups to engage in self-reflection about all aspects of the workplace, and broader factors that might influence their practice. Through a confidential and structured framework individuals are able to gain objective and non-judgmental feedback allowing them to reflect on workplace situations with the goal of improving practice, developing self-awareness and skills, enhancing self-care, and reducing professional burnout.

Supervision is generally provided in one-to-one confidential appointments and most people attend once each month, but this will be agreed upon at the first appointment.

Some workplaces will pay for supervision and in other situations you may be able to obtain funding through professional pathways. It is also possible to privately fund sessions and costs can be discussed upon contact.

The initial psychology appointment lasts up to 1.5 hours and costs $300 (+gst). This will include a psychological assessment covering aspects of your history, current needs, and a plan for future psychology appointments (either therapy or supervision needs).

Follow-up appointments are 1 hour and cost $190 (+gst).
